Vivian B. Dover, 86 of Rio, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at Columbus Community Hospital.
She was born on December 11, 1927 in West Allis, WI, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Muschdorf) Burie. In 1948, Vivian marred James Gaffney and the couple was together until his death in 1964. She was remarried to Clayton Dover in 1968 and the couple enjoyed 31 years of marriage, until Clayton's death in 1999. Vivian was a homemaker the majority of her life, but worked at Mid-State Shoe Factory in Waterloo for 15+ years. She had been a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Parish of Waterloo. Her interests included playing bingo, working puzzle and most of all; Vivian cherished time spent with her grandchildren, family and friends.
She is survived by: children Timothy (Patty) Dover of Rio, Michael (Peggy) Gaffney of Onalaska, Patricia Gaffney of Madison; step-daughters Sharon (Bernie) Kreul of Madison, Virginia (David) Berres of Wisconsin Dells; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Frank (Lena) Burie of Daytona, FL, Ed (Gerry) Kerwell of Appleton; sister Liela Johnson of New Fane, NY; half-brothers Michael (Sandi) Burie of Madison, John Burie of Randolph, Daniel (Gae) Burie of Beaver Dam, Bill (Karen) Burie of Derry, NH; half-sister Rosemarie (Fred) Hicks of Lodi, CA. Vivian is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, husbands, a brother and a daughter in infancy.
Memorials may be made in Vivian's honor to the charity of one's choice.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
