Virginia M. Harris, 92, of Hartland, WI passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Matthew’s Senior Living in Hartland.
Virginia was born on November 5, 1925 in Burlington, WI the daughter of Alvin and Elsie (Buckau) Brook. She spent her childhood in Genesee Depot, Wisconsin. Virginia married LeRoy Harris on November 6, 1944 in San Diego, California and the two enjoyed 55 years of marriage together until his passing in 1999. The couple was also blessed with 6 children. Virginia took care of her children well. She was the quintessential “country woman” - stoic and capable. Her children remember her as a “no-nonsense” mother, but she was also very loving. Her no was no, and you didn’t ask again! One word that describes Virginia well is strong. She never complained, even at the very end. For leisure, Virginia enjoyed being a member of the Dousman Derby Dancers with her husband. After Leroy passed, she was a member of the Delafield Golden Agers Card Club and enjoyed playing cards with that group very much. She also loved to ride horses, even into her 70’s! Virginia was a wonderful, special lady and her family will miss her dearly.
She is survived by: her six children, James (Carol) Harris, Gerry (Laura) Harris, Cheri (James) Casamassa, John Harris, Joel (Rose) Harris, and Lori (Dennis) Buscher. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Virginia is preceded in death by: her loving husband, LeRoy; four siblings; and her grandson, Kevin.
The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents of Matthew’s Senior Living. They truly were a part of her family these last 4 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at Matthew’s Senior Living in Hartland on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 10:30AM to 11:30AM.
