WATERLOO - Violet E. Wilson, 90, of Waterloo, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Highland House of Waterloo.
Violet was born on March 19, 1926, in Reeseville, the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Schaller) Hahn, and lived in the area her entire life. She graduated from Reeseville High School and on Nov. 16, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart Donald M. Schumann at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together, the couple farmed the homestead until Donald's death on June 19, 1965. She later married Bruce G. Wilson on April 18, 1970, and the couple lived in town. Violet enjoyed camping with Bruce. She loved the farm life, nature, flower gardening and sightseeing day trips. Always an avid reader, she had a sharp mind and always kept up with what was happening with the grandchildren and then later the great-grandchildren. She enjoyed getting out for visits, especially when she saw the little ones. She was a current member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Waterloo.
Violet is survived by her children Teresa (John) Peterson of Lake Geneva and Neil (Pam) Schumann of Reeseville; daughter-in-law Nathalie Schumann; grandchildren Donald (Shelby) Schumann, Jenelle (Derek) Thurnbauer, Darin (Connie) Schumann, Dr. Devin (Larissa) Schumann, Jason Westphal, Kevin Peterson, Mark Peterson, Kristen Hebberth, Eric Schumann, Kelly Schumann and Julie Schumann; stepgrandchildren Dan (Amy) Peterson and Debbie Peterson; great-grandchildren McCoy, McKenna and McQuinn Schumann, Dylan and Keira Thurnbauer, Desiree and Rhett Schumann, Leanna, Rebecca and Calla Schumann, Jaina and Jameson Westphal and Jayden Hebberth; brother Harlan Hahn; and sister-in-law Bonnie Hahn.
Violet is preceded in death by husbands Donald in 1965 and Bruce in 1989; son Dennis Schumann in 1983; and her brothers LeRoy, Rivard, Edward and Delvin.
Memorials in Violet's honor to the Reeseville Fire Department would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank the staff of Highland House, where she enjoyed life with their exceptional care for the last few years, and also Rainbow Hospice for caring for her the last few months.
