Violet I. Sullivan 99, of Waterloo passed away on Sunday Nov. 16, 2014 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Violet was born on Oct. 26, 1915 in Utica, WI the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Bjornstad) Gulseth. She married Guy Sullivan on Feb. 7, 1934. She and her husband farmed the family farm in the Town of Portland for many years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed her dear friends at the Hawthorne House in Waterloo. Violet loved to shop, car rides and watching trains. She enjoyed baking pie and was known for her Wisconsin Nut Cake. Above all things, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include: four children Gene Sullivan of Waterloo, Darrell (Molly) Sullivan of Waterloo, Jane (Wayne) Miller of Traverse City , MI and Debra (Dan) Raemisch of Lodi; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister Myrtle (Gordon) Nesthus of Cottage Grove. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and her many friends at the Hawthorne House in Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Dona, son James, grandchildren; Eddie Sullivan, Scott Miller and Lauri Sullivan, great grand daughter Gracie Jo Sullivan.
Memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Waterloo Fire and EMS Supporters Inc. would be appreciated.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 am on Wednesday Nov. 19, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Kosky presiding. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
