Viola B. Zastrow, 101, of Watertown passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Marquardt Health Center surrounded by her loving family.
Viola was born on April 3, 1918 in Lebanon, WI the daughter of Henry and Anna (Groth) Groeler. She married Herbert Zastrow on May 24, 1942 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Neosha and the couple enjoyed 33 years of marriage before his passing in 1976. Viola was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown for many years. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, Ice fishing, watching the Packers, and making her homemade horseradish. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Viola is survived by her children: Grace (Frank) Borchardt; Larry Zastrow; Harvey Zastrow; James (Mary) Zastrow; Shirley Schlesner; and Bonnie (David) Peirick. 15 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren, 9 step Great-Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great Step Grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Steven Zastrow, Grandson Chad Zastrow, Great-Grandson Nicholas Borchardt, brothers Arthur and Walter, sisters Esther Korth, Hilda Henschel, Amanda Damrow and son-in-law Ronald Schlesner.
A funeral service for Viola will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 22, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Timothy Mueller presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Glenview Memorial Gardens.
