Verona M. ”Roni” Martin 89, of Oakfield, formerly of Watertown passed away on Saturday Nov. 4, 2017.
Verona was born on Nov. 7, 1927 in Watertown the daughter of William and Ida (Setzkorn) Rupnow. She married Herbert Martin on June 25, 1949 in Rockton, IL and he later died on April 14, 1975. Roni owned and operated Sonotone Hearing Aids in Watertown for many years. Roni was the past president of the Watertown Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 3709 and was known for her speeches on the main street bridge during the Memorial Day Parade. Roni donated her time and talents to the Watertown High School for their school plays. Roni loved fishing, dancing and singing.
Survivors include: Sons Syd (Rosanne) Martin of Oakfield, Greg (Mari) Martin of Fond du Lac; Grandchildren Brandon, Lee (Heidi) and Kris (Becky); Great Grandchildren McKenna, Tyler, Hudson, Addison, Samantha and Jonathan; sister Bernice Falk. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, ten brothers and sisters.
Memorial service will be held 4:00 PM on Thursday November 9, 2017 at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home Watertown with the Rev. Anthony Schultz presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery Watertown.
