Dr. Thomas R. Anderson 84 of Sun Prairie (formally of Waterloo) passed away on Saturday July 9, 2016 at Waunakee Manor.
Tom was born on October 20, 1931 in Janesville, WI, the son of Thomas and Lillian (Sommerfeldt) Anderson. By the age of 11 both of his parents had passed away and he was raised by his Sister Adria, and later by his Sister Bev and her Husband Pete Kores in Beaver Dam. He is a 1950 graduate of Beaver Dam High School and graduated top of his class in 1958 from Marquette University Dental School. He married his high school sweetheart, Marwood "Woody" Krueger on December 31, 1955 and the couple raised 3 children. Tom served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Dr. Anderson was an early riser, hard worker and the local dentist for 51 years who always considered himself "on call" until his retirement at age 79. He and Woody loved to golf and were members of various local country clubs and traveled south to Florida in the winters. The couple loved to make friends at the many restaurants and hotels they stopped at along the route south. They were people of routine when it came to traveling. When the couple's children were young, the family spent most weekends waterskiing at their cottage on Lake Sinissippi or traveling out west. He was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed spending time on the water, boating. He was best known for his kindness, amazing sense of humor, and the beautiful smiles he gave his patients throughout his career. He will be missed.
Survivors include: two children Thomas W. (Sara) Anderson of Iola, WI and Sue Anderson of Barneveld; four grandchildren Brooke (Kyle) Manley, Brett Anderson, Kristin (Mike Williamson) Johnson and Stacia Rice; Great-Grandchildren Ella Rice, and Bennett Thomas Williamson; Nephews Sid (Gloria) Anderson of Cooksville and Bob (Darlene) Anderson of Stoughton. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends and patients.
Tom is preceded in death by: his parents, Wife Woody, Daughter Julie Anderson, Sisters Beverly Kores, Adria Anderson, and another sister in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Anderson's honor to the Badger Honor Flight Organization (PO Box 258066 Madison, WI 53725) or the charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ron and Bev Anderson, Sharon and Dick Spies, and Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Arena, and his many dear friends at Buck and Honey's of Sun Prairie for their kindness shown throughout the years.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00AM on Saturday July 16, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Waterloo with the Rev. Robb Kosky presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. A Celebration of Life will be at Waterloo Firemen's Park following the service.
