Thekla L. Schneider

February 11, 1939 — April 27, 2024

Watertown

Thekla Louise Schneider (nee Hoenecke) entered eternal life on April 27, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. Hank, as she was affectionally known, was 85. Thekla was born in Tacoma, Washington, on February 11, 1939, the daughter of Pastor and Mrs. Roland Hoenecke. She became a child of God by Holy Baptism soon afterward.
Hank moved to Chesaning, Michigan, and then on to New UIm, Minnesota. It was in New UIm that she was confirmed as a communicant member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
After graduating from Dr. Martin Luther High School and Dr. Martin Luther College, Hank was assigned to teach the lower grades at St. Martin's Lutheran School in Watertown South Dakota.
On June 17, 1961, she was united in marriage with James Schneider of Kenosha Wisconsin. God blessed them with three daughters: Beth, Karen, and Heidi. She and her husband lived in Goodwin, South Dakota, Billings, Montana, and Ontario, Wisconsin. During these years, Hank enjoyed being a full-time mom.
In 1974, the family moved to New UIm, Minnesota, and after that to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, and finally to Watertown, Wisconsin. Hank served as librarian at Martin Luther Academy (New UIm), Martin Luther Preparatory School (Prairie du Chien), and Luther Preparatory School (Watertown).
Hank loved to take care of her family and made holidays and celebrations special occasions for all. She enjoyed reading, tending flowers, and cheering for Wisconsin sports teams.
Hank is survived by her husband Jim, her daughters Beth Ziel (Eric), Karen Rodewald (Rev. Duane), and Heidi Kutz (Mark), nine grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Martin Luther College, Luther Preparatory School, or St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. The family would like to thank the staff of Watertown Memorial Hospital, and especially the staff of Rainbow Hospice who took care of their wife and mother.

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" --Isaiah 52:7
