Scott C. Hedrick, 53, of Jefferson, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at UW Hospital in Madison.
Scott was born on January 12, 1971, in Watertown, the son of Joseph and Susan (Meyer) Hedrick. He worked as a kitchen staff member at Fireside for 30 years. In his free time, he enjoyed being an avid Seattle Mariners fan, walking, running, bowling, mini golfing, and participating in multiple 5K fundraising walks. He overcame many challenges in life. Scott enjoyed his independence and never shied away from work. Scott was a talented athlete, competing and winning multiple medals in Special Olympics, most recently winning a gold medal in the State bowling tournament this past November. Above all, he enjoyed being part of a team and connecting with others in playful banter. Scott had a very caring heart and would help anyone he could. His last act of kindness was being a tissue donor to help others in need. Scott will be dearly missed by those who were blessed to have known him.
Scott is survived by his brothers Mike (Jenifer) Hedrick of Watertown, Dan Hedrick and nephew Julian of McHenry, IL., lifelong supporters Fred and Sue Bonacker, and godmother Anne Pasold. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends. Scott was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will take place June 15, 2024 at Rock River Lanes in Fort Atkinson from 1-5pm.
The family is especially thankful to Scott’s friends and the staff at St. Colletta’s for the care and enrichment given to Scott over the last several years of his life, along with the lifelong bonds he formed at The Fireside.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Scott’s honor can be directed to Wisconsin Special Olympics, St. Colleta’s, or Jefferson County Humane Society.
