Ruth Henning

Ruth V. Henning, 86, of Waterloo, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Prairie Ridge Health in Columbus.

Ruth was born on July 21, 1933 in Waterloo, the daughter of Emil and Vera (Doschadis) Hensler. She married the love of her life Elmer Henning on March 16, 1957 and the couple enjoyed 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2015. Ruth was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo for many years. In her early years she enjoyed working with her husband on the family farm. In her free time she loved watching the Game Show Network. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her children Cynthia Henning, Dan (Roseanne) Henning, Neal (Holly) Henning, Lyle Henning, and Sandra Henning. 20 Grandchildren: Daniel (Emily), Kristin, William, Larissa, Phillip (Amanda), Chelsey, Trinidad (Justin), Merced, Nicauly, Brandon (Noelle), Brett, Ryan (Christian), Jennifer, Joseph, Ashley (Jon), Samantha (Arcadio), Miranda, Nicki, Alicia, Emily. 17 Great-Grandchildren, and siblings Walter Hensler, David (Jeannine) Hensler, Bernice (Hans) Dunneisen, and Bonnie Filter. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gerald, grandchildren Scott and Tara, and 6 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service for Ruth will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Chris Esmay presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 12:00pm until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Waterloo.
