Ruby L. Flancher-Antone 75, of East Troy, WI, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at her daughter's home surrounded by her loving family.
Ruby was born on January 26, 1940 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was a 1975 graduate of Alverno College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She was a dedicated caregiver and worked for various hospitals and nursing homes but was employed as a Home-Health Nurse with Hannah Home Healthcare for the final 11 years of her career. She loved to collect cookbooks and to play the odds with her scratch-off lottery tickets. She had a good sense of humor and persevered through life's struggles. She was a loving mother and adored her rescued dachshund, whose name was Ricki, but was often referred to as "Weiner". Much like most quality healthcare professionals, she was a wonderful nurse but horrible patient, always wanting to help others, and not accept the help herself. A final selfless act that showed her true character was her willingness to participate in experimental cancer treatments. Her motivation was the preservation of life for future cancer patients, even if the treatments were not beneficial to her. Ruby has many people in her life that are honored to call her friend. She will be missed by many.
Ruby is survived by: Sons Michael (Ann) Ratkowski of Sun Prairie, and Pat (Debbie) Ratkowski of Waukesha, Daughter Karlene (Tony) Sillman of Waterloo; 7 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her Husband Donald Antone, Sister Jade Banach, and Mother Pearl Jones.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Watertown Humane Society in Ruby's name would be appreciated.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
