Roger H. Zimmerman, 89 of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Roger was born July 12, 1934, in Wisconsin, the son of Harold and Frieda (Kripshack) Zimmerman. From 1952 to 1956, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Kearsarge Aircraft Carrier during the Korean War. On March 8, 1958, Roger married Marion Fehrmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon. After working a few different jobs, Roger found his calling working as a semi-truck driver for Brownberry Ovens, retiring in 1999. Roger loved to go camping, especially in Fremont, WI, along the Wolf River. He also enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes, and bingo. Roger was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Watertown where he ushered when he was able. Above all else, Roger cherished the time he spent with his friends and family.
Roger is survived by: his wife Marion; children Shelly (Vern Benisch) York, Holly Molley, Troy (Cheri) Zimmerman, Kerry Menke, Noelle (Darryl Malicki) Villegas; grandchildren Kyle, Brennan and Tyler Parpart, Stephanie Gerlach, Whitney Zoellick, Cory and Ryan Zimmerman, Alyssa, Alex, Abby, and Aden Villegas; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings Earl Zimmerman, Pat Busshardt, David Zimmerman, Vickie Zimmerman, and Nancy Aagen. Roger is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roger is preceded in death by: his parents; daughter Tracy Zimmerman; sisters Phyllis Anderson and Evelyn Johnson; brother James Zimmerman; and son-in-law Mike Menke.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Rainbow Hospice for the loving care provided to Roger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roger’s name may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Watertown or Rainbow Hospice Care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Watertown with Rev. David Groth presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Roger will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
