Roger J. Grunewald 77, of Marshall passed away on Thursday July 19, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison
Roger was born August 28, 1934 in Marshall the son of Victor & Herta (Barfknecht) Grunewald. He married Imogene Portwine on September 13, 1954 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Roger worked at Oscar Meyer Foods as a mechanic for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. During his life farming was his favorite hobby as well as collecting old tractors.
Survivors include: his wife Imogene Grunewald of Waterloo; five children Steven Grunewald of Waterloo, Phil (Cindy) Grunewald of Marshall, Gerald Grunewald of Waterloo, Andrew Grunewald of Waterloo and Eileen Grunewald of Waterloo; 14 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren; also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roger was the last of four children and is also preceded in death by his son Russell, his son Charles and his daughter Marie.
Visitation will be held 4-8 PM on Sunday July 22, 2012 at Pederson Funeral Home Waterloo. A private family service will be held on Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Rob Kosky officiating. Buril will be in Washington Cemetery in the town of Portland. Memorials can be made to the family.
