Robert C. Mitchell, 86, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday, May 18, at his home surrounded by loving family.
Robert was born November 30, 1926, in Brookfield, the son of Dean and Gladys (Ormond) Mitchell. He married Janice Bartz on April 23, 1949 in Pewaukee. Together with his wife and family they operated a dairy and hog farm at their current address in the town of Ixonia. He was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church, served on the Board of Directors of Frontier-FS, and was a life-long Farm Bureau member.
Survivors include his five children, Donna Soto (nee Mitchell) of Lake Mills, Stan (Don) Mitchell of Raleigh, North Carolina, Randy Mitchell of Watertown, Richard (Jeff) Mitchell of Mesa, Ariz., and Steve (Kathy) Mitchell of North Carolina; six grandchildren: Nathan Soto, Melissa (Nick) Draeger , Angela (fiance, Sean Butler) Soto, Andrea (Marco) Soto, Madison and Sydney Mitchell; four great-grandchildren Kaylee and Alex Soto, Hayden Soto and Adelyn Draeger. He is also survived by his brother, Wally (Lois) Mitchell of Brookfield and sister-in-law, Florence Mitchell of Watertown. Also his faithful companions, Blu and Shepherd. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Janice, his parents, his in-laws: Vern and Hazel Bartz. He is also preceded in death by brothers Leslie, John (Esther), and sister, Helen (Ken) Beamesderfer.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Concord United Methodist Church, Concord, with the Rev. Bonnie Bell presiding. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday and 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, until the time of service at the church. Interment in the church cemetery will follow the service. Memorials to the Church, Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson, or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
