Robert E. Loeffler, age 96, of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the At Home Again, LLC assisted living in Columbus, Wisconsin.
Robert was born on February 19, 1919 in the Township of Portland, the son of Frank and Amelia (Haberman) Loeffler. He married Hazel G. Meyer on June 10, 1944 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church of Waterloo and the couple spent nearly 70 years of marriage together. He was a life-long and active member of St. John's. The couple spent much of their married life together on the Loeffler family farm, where he lived for 93 of his 96 years. He was a hardworking and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a devoted caregiver to his loving wife for the last 3 years of her life. His interests include: antiquing, attending auctions and keeping up with the latest agricultural technologies and techniques. Later in life he enjoyed, shelling hickory nuts, and mowing his lawn.
He is survived by: two children Gary (Barbara Pick) Loeffler of Marshall and Sharon Mercier of Cottage Grove; 3 grandchildren: Scott Sphar, Jason Loeffler and Nathan (Tifany) Loeffler; great-grandson Blake Loeffler. Robert is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert is preceded in death by: his parents, wife, 2 sons in infancy Robert and Richard, and a brother Vernon Loeffler.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the attentive and tender care given by the staff at Hillside Hospice of Beaver Dam and At Home Again LLC assisted living of Columbus.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church of Waterloo with the Rev. Thomas Wilsmann presiding. Visitation will be Tuesday from Noon until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Washington Cemetery in the Township of Portland.
