Robert E. Hein, 95, of Waterloo passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Highland House in Waterloo.
Robert was born on February 8, 1923 in the Town of York, Dane County, the son of Christian and Ella (Doberstein) Hein. Robert is a graduate of Columbus High School. He served our country in the Army from 1945 - 1947 and later married the love of his life, Ardis Kegler, on September 6, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Robert spent most of his life farming in the Town of York. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but above all Robert enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters; Janice Grunewald of Madison, Joy (David) Fossum of Black River Falls, Juleen (Edward) Tredinnick of Onalaska, Wisconsin, and son Daniel (Sharon) Hein of Waterloo; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; loving and loyal companion Betty Arians, and his brother-in-law Fritz Kegler. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Russell, Gerald, and Kenneth Hein, and his sister Marion Raith, infant son Steven and infant great- granddaughter Faith.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Highland House of Waterloo, Rainbow Hospice, and Sienna Crest of Marshall for their excellent care.
A funeral service to honor Robert’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo with the Rev. Thomas Wilsmann presiding. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the church. Robert will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery – Waterloo following the service.
