Robert Duckert

Robert Duckert, age 84, of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday July 30, 2013 at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek. He was born April 1, 1929 in Milwaukee County to Meta Duckert. Robert is a 1946 graduate of Waterloo High School. Robert served his country in the US Army in the south Pacific during the Korean War. Bob married Lavon Beitz on August 22, 1953. He is also a 1957 graduate of the University of Wisconsin. Bob worked for some industrial plants as an engineer until in 1968 he founded Duckert Pallet Company. He retired in 1980 after building the company into one of the most successful pallet factories in the Midwest.

Bob is a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, and was also a member of the U.W. Alumni Association. He was a member of VFW post 6614 where he served as a member of the color guard, and he was also a life member of American Legion Post 233 where he managed the baseball team for many years.

Robert's main interests were his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan of the local and college athletics.

Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years Lavon, daughter Kathleen(Dan) Hedges, son Gary(Gail) Duckert, son Greg(Sue) Duckert, daughter Jane(Nick) Ellis, 8 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 3, 2013 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Waterloo,WI. with Rev. James Adomeit presiding. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00PM- 7:00 PM on Friday August 2, 2013 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, and also from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
