Rachel L. Archie

Rachel L. Archie, 91, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Azura Memory Care in Oak Creek.

Rachel was born on December 10, 1933, in Waterloo, the daughter of Marvin “Mike” and Edna (Skala) Mosher. She married the love of her life James “Skip” Archie on April 4, 1956, and the couple enjoyed 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2015. Rachel was an active member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo for many years. She and her friend Ruth started Perry’s Employees Credit Union in Waterloo in April of 1975 and Rachel worked there until her retirement at age 62 after 20 years of service, but returned to work 8 months later, then retired again at the age of 82 after another 20 years of service. In her free time James and Rachel enjoyed antiquing and collecting. She was a kind, people centered servant, who always wanted to make sure everyone was okay. Above all she truly loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and her sisters.

Rachel is survived by her daughters Amy (Jason) Asala and Cheryl (Craig) Oertel, 4 grandchildren Regan Asala, Miranda Asala, Grant Oertel, Carson Oertel, and her sister Jean Mosher. She is also survived by a many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Ruth, Rita, Royce, Rhoda, and Ron.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo, with Rev. James Adomeit presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 1:00pm until the time of service.
