Phyllis A. Holland, 88, of Rockford, Il, formerly of Watertown, WI, went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
Phyllis was born on October 4, 1936 in Goodwine, IL the daughter of Marvin and Ella (Morris) Goin. The family moved to Anderson Indiana when Phyllis was 6 years old. Phyllis attended Anderson High School and graduated from Great Commission High School of Anderson. She graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Fort Wayne Indiana. Phyllis married the love of her life, John Mark Holland on March 1, 1958 in Anderson, IN. They were happily married for 66 years. Phyllis worked as an RN in various hospitals: St. John and Community hospitals in Anderson Indiana, Bloomington Indiana Hospital, and at Watertown Hospital for 30 plus years in various departments. She enjoyed 5 years of nursing at Maranatha University. Phyllis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 50 years and served faithfully with her church family. Her love and care for people extended beyond her professional nursing career to everyone she met. In her free time, Phyllis enjoyed word games, flower gardening, traveling, crafts and church activities. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include: husband John Mark Holland; children, Elizabeth (Verlyn) Swanson, Joy (Jerry) Greco and Timothy (Gina) Holland; grandchildren, Zachary Greco, Benjamin (Dana) Swanson, David (Kayla) Swanson, Nick (Karlee) Holland, Breanna Holland and Callee Holland; great grandchildren Levi, Rylee, Myles, Hallie, Abram and Olivea Swanson and special friends Paul and Sandy Lange. She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and a baby sister.
A Memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert J. Loggans presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 5-7 PM. Burial will take place in the Ebenezer Moravian Cemetery.
