Pastor Franklin Moore

Pastor Franklin P. Moore, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 25, 2018.

Franklin was born July 7, 1923, the son of William and Pauline (Stears) Moore. He married Edna M. Stoops on July 11, 1945 at First Baptist Church in Princeton, Indiana. Soon after they were married, Frank felt the call to preach and attended Northwestern Bible College. After he graduated, he began his preaching ministry at Fall City / Rockfalls, WI. Pastor Moore continued to preach full-time until his last full-time ministry in Preston, Minnesota when he and Edna moved to Watertown, Wisconsin. Not ready to fully retire, he continued to fill the pulpit whenever requested until he was in his 90’s at which time he continued his prison ministries. Frank was known as the “Poetic Parson,” He loved writing poems and composing songs, writing at least one poem a day since the 1970’s.

Pastor Moore accepted Jesus as his personal savior in his early twenties. He had a glowing Christian testimony and shared the gospel with anyone he came into contact. Knowing no stranger, his desire was for all to know the Lord.

He is survived by his brother, Robert Moore, Evansville, IN, his sister Alice Carey, Patoka, IN and his children; Edward Moore, Lewistown, MT, Rhoda Richardson, Rockford, IL, Rebecca Garr, Hannibal, MO, Esther Moore, Ft. Atkinson, WI and Elizabeth Luker, Watertown, WI. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Edna.

A funeral service to celebrate Frank’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown with the Rev. Dr. Robert Loggans presiding. Visitation will be held at 11:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Frank will be laid to rest at Ebenezer Moravian Cemetery in Watertown following the service.
