Norbert David Novak died peacefully on January 12, 2024 at the VA Hospital in Madison after a 10 year struggle with CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia).
Norb was born in Beaver Dam, WI on October 6, 1951, to Norbert Thomas and Marjorie Jane (Kopff) Novak. He graduated from Waupun High School in 1969 after which he was drafted into the Army and served his country in Vietnam. In 1977 he married Patricia Schaller. They lived in Clyman, Reeseville, and eventually settled in Waterloo where they raised their 3 sons. In later years he loved caring for their 4 grandchildren and attending their events. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening/canning and volunteering at St Vincent de Paul.
Norb came from a large, loving family and will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his wife, his sons, David (Corinne) Novak, Brian Novak (Jeremy) and Kevin Novak. Grandchildren: Emmy, Mya, Haily and Karson Novak. His siblings: Mary (Mike) Millard, Mark Novak, Barb (Doug) Tillema, Nancy Paulson, Jean (Rick) Stelsel, Janet Petznick and Chris Novak. In-laws, Mark (Jackie) Schaller, Greg (Debbie) Schaller, Jean (Dan) Zimbric, Perry (Dawn) Schaller and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Cathy, nephew Jacob Paulson, brother-in-law Dan Paulson and mother & father-in-law Wayne and Marian Schaller.
Norb will be remembered for his deep love of family, his generous spirit and great sense of humor. His kindness, love of life and perseverance will always be an inspiration to us all.
A Memorial Mass to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Holy Family Parish in Waterloo with Fr. Michael Johnson Presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30am until the time of service. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
