Nicholas "Nick" Scheidegger

Nicholas “Nick” J. Scheidegger 87, of Waterloo passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Lake Mills Health Center surrounded by his loving family.

Nick was born on May 12, 1931 in Beaver Dam, the son of Hans and Clara (Frick) Scheidegger.  Nick was a 1948 graduate of St. John’s Military Academy and later attended UW- Madison.  He married the love of his life Wanda Griepentrog on Jan. 19, 1952 and the couple enjoyed sixty-six years together. In is earlier years, Nick was a cheesemaker and later worked at Perry Printing and the Waterloo Post Office. Nick was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waterloo.  He enjoyed playing cards, golfing and baseball. For leisure, you could find Nick in his chair in the garage enjoying all that God had created.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include: wife Wanda; Children John of Alexandria, VA, Tom (Judy) of Sun Prairie and Christe (Brad) Solie of Columbus; Grandchildren Katie, Jeffrey, Maggie (Steven), Calle (Matt) and Tyler. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his  parents, Sisters Heidi Kranz and Trudy Leeds. Memorials in Nick’s honor may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church Waterloo with the Rev. James Adomeit presiding.  Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
