Neal (Gunner) Kopplin 77, of Lake Mills (formerly Waterloo), passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday August 4, 2017 at Dycora nursing facility in Watertown.
He was born on February 28, 1940 in Oconto, Wisconsin, to Walter and Elizabeth (Dettmann) Kopplin. A 1958 graduate of Waterloo High School, he worked 36 years at Perry Printing of Waterloo as a bindery supervisor, retiring in 2002.
An avid outdoorsman, Neal loved fishing more than anything else. He was happiest out on the water or ice, with anyone who wanted to tag along, but primarily, Gail as his fishing buddy in his later years.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Gail, children Kurt (Theresa) Kopplin, of Colorado Springs, Julia (Kent) Maclaughlin, of Waterloo, Tim (Carol) Kopplin of Waterloo, Don (Wendy) Kopplin of Westport, IN, Brenda (Jeff) Averkamp, of Marsielles, IL, Nick (Tiffany) Kopplin of Marshall, stepchildren Amy Zastrow and Joshua Frohmader, brother Larry (Linda) Kopplin and 13 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Elaine and Armond Zastrow, and sister Sheila.

A celebration of Neal's life will take place on Saturday August 26th from 2 to 5 at the Karl Junginger Memorial Library in Waterloo.
