Michael Drenoske

March 4, 1947 — January 24, 2017

Michael J. Drenoske, 69 of Waterloo, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Michael was born on March 4, 1947 in Madison, WI the son of Michael and Elizabeth "Babe" (Simonson) Drenoske. He is a 1965 graduate of Monona Grove High School and earned an automotive technical degree from MATC. Mike served his country in the US Navy from 1967-1971, with a tour in Vietnam serving as a flight mechanic. On April 26, 1980, he married Catherine Mesenbourg at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish of Monona.
Mike lived for classic cars (pre 1964) and could often be found in his shop working on his totally custom truck, and admiring his 1966 Corvette convertible, also some of his meticulous handy work. He loved to explain how his cars worked and why he had modified them. Mike's driving habits were cautious and conservative, except when driving his Corvette. He enjoyed his monthly outings with his "Dinner-Out Club" and feeding the birds was a hobby that was appreciated not only by him, but by his son-in-law also. Mike and Cathy realized the value of the family unit and while their two daughters were at home, they did almost everything together... even shopping for prom dresses as a family. Mike was an honest, hardworking gentleman who adored his grandchildren. He often popped pop-corn with them, but would be so careful when feeding them, as to prevent his loved ones from choking. Mike understood what was important in life and his family will miss him dearly.
Michael is survived by: his Loving Wife Cathy of Waterloo; Daughters Lauren (Chad) Anderson of Belvidere, IL and Shannon (Alston) Godbolt of Kenosha; Grandchildren Myles Michael and Drew Ryan Anderson, and Alexei James and Layla Michele Godbolt; Brothers Steven (Linda) of Monona and Gary (Sally) of Sun Prairie; Sister Jackie (Bob) Gies of Highland. Mike is also survived by a number of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and other family members.
