Michael O. Brinkman 76 of Columbus passed away on Tuesday April 2, 2013 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Michael was born on May 15, 1936 in Chicago, IL the son of Adam and Alice (Davies) Brinkman. He married Judith Zeitz on Jan. 18, 1957. He was an Elder of Stone Bank Bible Chapel. He, along with Judy, was one of the founding families/couples of Country Christian School, now Lake Country Christian Academy. He was co-founder of Victory Christian High School. He was a teacher, School Superintendent, School Board Member for 30 years. Founder and Executive Director of Medical Equipment Repair Associates (MERA) the oldest and largest group of independent medical equipment repair companies in North America. Founder and President of Hospital Maintenance Consultants, one of the premier clinical engineering consulting companies in the healthcare field. Past guest lecturer for the American Hospital Association and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation; author of numerous articles and papers; and co-author of a textbook on clinical engineering. He was a magna cum laude graduate of Marquette University with a BS degree in engineering.
Survivors include: wife Judith Brinkman of Columbus; five children Stephen Brinkman of San Antonio, TX, Daniel (Jo Ann) Brinkman of Chetek, Julie Brinkman of Phillips, Amy (Eivind) Brendtro of Anchorage, AL and Carl Brinkman of Columbus, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, brother John Brinkman of Chicago; also survived by a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Peter.
Funeral service will be held 12:00 PM on Saturday April 6, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Watertown with Todd Ericson presiding. Visitation will be held on Saturday, 10:00-12:00 at the church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery Watertown. The family would appreciate memorials to Stone Bank Bible Chapel.
