Matthew John Young, 27, of Watertown went to be with his Lord and Savior January 9, 2014. He was born April 20, 1986 in Oconomowoc, WI, Son of Jeffery and Kristin Young. He was a current student at Maranatha Baptist University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Counseling. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Watertown. Matthew loved serving his fellow man and was a "Big Brother" mentor with the Lad Lake Program of Dousman for troubled and neglected youth. He enjoyed attending and participating in Newfocus of Watertown as well as spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Kristin Young of Watertown, father, Jeffery Young of Marionette, WI, step-grandfather, Lloyd Bartelt of Delwood, WI, his paternal grandmother, Doral Young of Oconomowoc and other family and many friends.
Matthew is proceeded in death his maternal grandparents, Gerhard and Marjorie Damrow and his paternal grandfather, Edward Young.
It is the family's wish that memorial be made to Newfocus - an addiction support ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, Watertown.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 5:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown, WI. Visitation will be from 2:00pm until the time of service.

Matt's Testimony: 10/30/11
"I've grown up, been baptized, and confirmed in the Lutheran sect of Christianity. So naturally, I believed I had Jesus in my heart already; though many of my actions throughout my life have been far from Christ-like.
Dan Pulis has been a friend of mine for a few years through work, and we've discussed our ideas and interpretations of the Bible many times amongst each other. Then he extended an offer for me to accompany him to a men's night dinner and sermon at Calvary. (September 26, 2011)
The evening was what I expected and the sermon was very good. Of course, believing I was already in a right relationship with God my sinful pride stayed my hand when the pastor talking invited anyone to raise their and pray to accept Christ.
Then he said, 'If anyone hasn't raised their hands and is still doubting, or fearful I will still pray for you and you can pray along with me.' And so with sincerity in my heart and a clear mind I prayed and invited Christ into my heart and my life to change me through his Mercy.
And it has come to pass that since then I can feel the Holy Spirit working in my life on a daily basis to help remove the sin of my past life and don me with the robes of Christ's righteousness; that I will come to know him better and live for him through his Word."
