Mary Romer

October 14, 1927 — January 6, 2013

Mary Jeane "Mickey" Romer, 85, of Watertown passed away on Sunday Jan. 6, 2013 at Marquardt Memorial Manor.
Mickey was born on Oct. 14, 1927 in Jim Thorpe, PA the daughter of Nathaniel and Kathryn (Watkins) Moser . She attended Ursinus College in Pennsylvania. She moved to Alaska as a Missionary for the Moravian Church in Bethel, where she married Albert C. Romer Sr. on Jan. 2, 1960. She was a Missionary school teacher in Alaska at the Moravian Children's Home 1950-53 and later substituted for the treasurer of the Moravian Church. She went on to work as a travel agent and a land claims specialist for the state of Alaska until her retirement. She remained an enthusiastic member of the Moravian Church throughout her life and was an active member of the Marquardt Village community for the past twenty years.
Survivors include: son Kenneth (Ann) Romer of Portland, OR; daughter Cynthia Romer of San Francisco, CA; granddaughter Anneka; step children Byron, Herman, Jesse, Richard, Sylvia and Katherine; sister Lois Harke of Watertown; also survived by a number of step grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step son Albert Jr. and her sister Inez. Memorials to Marquardt Foundation or the Charity of One's Choice would be appreciated.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM on Jan. 21, 2013 in the Bethany Chapel at Marquardt Memorial Manor with the Rev. Dr. Rick Brewer presiding.
