Marion C. Jeffson, 76, of Waterloo, passed away on July 13, 2016 at Columbus Community Hospital.
She was born on January 10, 1940 in Watertown, the daughter of Frederick and Frieda (Kohn) Balmer. She is a 1958 graduate of Marshall High School and in February of 1964, married Jacob A. Jeffson at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Madison. Mary worked for the Waterloo School District for 18 years as a teacher's aide and school bus aide, and retired in 2010. She had a very big heart and loved working with her students-she particularly loved riding the bus with them and enjoying the beautiful countryside each afternoon. Mary was a dedicated and active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Waterloo. She didn't like change, but one could find her in her yard picking up sticks and pulling weeds-she enjoyed being outside. Mary was a VERY reluctant traveler, but was willing to cross oceans to visit her beloved grandchildren as they moved around the world with their active-duty father, Joel. Upon her return, Mary would always make announcements about what a good time she had. She loved the Waterloo area and being close to her sisters. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Marion is survived by: her husband; sons Mark of Minneapolis, MN, Joel (Christine) of Monument, CO, and Kurt of Washburn, WI; sisters Beatrice Holtzhueter of Waterloo, Darlene Gordon of Waterloo, and Carol (Darrell) Lange of Deerfield; grandchildren Mallory and Nathan. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, sister Bernadine Hensler, and brother Frederick.
Memorials in Mary's honor to St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Waterloo would be appreciated.
