Margaret E. Ellington, 88 of Watertown went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Marquardt Health Center.
Marg was born on April 11, 1930 the daughter of George and Elsie (Miles) Wieborg. Marg married John Ellington on May 6, 1950 in Springfield, IL and the two enjoyed 21 years of marriage together until his death in 1971. Marg worked as a Resident’s Aid at Bethesda Lutheran Home for 18 and ½ years, retiring in 1993. Marg was a woman of faith and was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for many years. Those closest to her say that her church was truly her family. She had a heart to serve others, and did so by being a member of the Women of Good Shepherd and volunteering at the Watertown Food Pantry. In her younger years, Marg was an avid bowler and made a lot of friendships through that activity. Marg had a very warm personality. She loved conversing and getting to know others and was very good at making those around her feel comfortable. She was a true Christian woman, and will be dearly missed.
Marg is survived by a number of nieces, other relatives and friends.
Marg is preceded in death by: her parents, husband John, and 3 siblings.
Memorials in Marg’s honor may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bethesda Lutheran Communities, or Marquardt Foundation.
A funeral service to honor the life of Marg will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. Victor Tegtmeier and Rev. David Groth presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:30AM until the time of service at the church. Marg will be laid to rest next to her husband on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
