LeRoy L. Maass, 96 of Watertown, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Marquardt Memorial Manor.
He was born on January 24, 1919 in Sugar Island, WI the only son of Hugo and Lillian (Mallow) Maass. On January 18, 1942 LeRoy married Leona Schuett at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Ixonia and enjoyed 48 years of marriage until Leona's death in 1990. The couple raised five children and worked on the family farm in Lebanon for many years. He later spent 15 years employed at Johnson Controls and also as a courier for Ixonia State Bank. LeRoy was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon and served on the Church Council. He was on the Immanuel Dartball Team and was an avid Brewers, Packers and Badgers fan. LeRoy was the last surviving member of the 1940 Rock River Valley League Champion Baseball Team and loved watching the Lebanon Whitetails play. He was a member of the Ixonia Fireman's Auxilary and enjoyed playing cards, fishing and attending polka festivals. Above all, he was an outstanding husband and father and will be deeply missed by many.
LeRoy is survived by: Son Delbert (Dolores) Maass of Watertown, Son-in-Law Ronald Hahm of Ixonia, Daughters Karleen (Edward) Heintzberger of Walla Walla, WA, Jean (Donald) Kwapil of Watertown, and Laurie (Patrick) Cosson of West Allis, WI; Very Special Friend LaVerne Jaeger of Watertown: 21 Grandchildren; 38 Great-Grandchildren; 6 Great, Great-Grandchildren; and a Sister Ellen Anderson of Oshkosh, WI. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, wife, Daughter Anne Hahm; Twin Sister Leona Schuett, Sisters Violet Jaeger, and Elaine Malchow; Grandsons Werner and Jonathan, and Great-Granddaughter Olivia.
Memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
A funeral service will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon with the Rev. David M. Phillips presiding. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow a luncheon and will be held at Glenview Memorial Gardens of Ixonia.
