Lawrence L. Kuhl Jr., 72 of Waterloo, passed away on Wednesday April 8, 2015 at Watertown Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
He was born on July 16, 1942 in Columbus, the son of Lawrence and Alice (Giese) Kuhl. Larry faithfully served our country in the United States Navy and after returning home he married his loving wife Shirley on April 20, 1963 in Madison. Larry and Shirley enjoyed 52 years of marriage and had 4 wonderful children. Larry was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Waterloo. He worked for the city of Waterloo for over 30 years and retired as a foreman. Larry was described by those closest to him as a quiet, thoughtful man. He had many interests, enjoying much of what life had to offer. These interests included: hunting, fishing, trapping and all manner of outdoor activity. He was also interested in ancient Indian art and enjoyed searching for Indian artifacts such as arrowheads. Larry was very skilled with his hands and he enjoyed using this gift as a carpenter and woodworker. Along with these interests, Larry was known by his family to be a spirited dancer of the polka. He was a family man who cherished spending time with those he loved and will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.
Larry is survived by: his Wife Shirley; Children Jeffery Kuhl of Waterloo, Michael Kuhl of Waterloo, Terry (Kelly) Kuhl of Waterloo and Tammy (Brian) Hafenstein of Lake Mills; 11 Grand Children, and 2 Great-Grand Children; Sister Judi Huber of Portage and Brother Chuck (Deb) Kuhl of Pardeeville; Special Aunt Tootie Lenz of Waterloo and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, and Sister Sharon Ring.
Memorials in Larry's honor would be appreciated and can be made to a charity of one's choice.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waterloo with Rev. Thomas Wilsmann presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church with burial with military rights at Oak Hill Cemetery in Waterloo following the service.
