Lawrence H. "Hank" Holley, 92 of Waterloo, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Oakwood Village of Madison.
Hank was born on May 8, 1924 in Blue Mounds, WI, the son of Lawrence H. and Mary (Smith) Holley. When he was four years old, the family moved to Madison. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic School and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1942. While at Edgewood, he excelled in athletics, and was the captain of the football team his senior year. Upon graduation, he joined the Army Air Corps and spent two years in India and six months in the South Pacific with the 40th Bomb Group. Hank then attended the University of Wisconsin graduation in 1949 with a degree in economics. He was a corporate executive with McKay Nursery for 39 years and served as Secretary-Treasurer of the company. He retired in 1990. On April 7, 1951 he married Elizabeth Meehan. The preceded him in death July 1981. On October 13, 1984 Hank married Karen Bossa at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waterloo. Hank was everything a man should be. He loved God, his church, his country, his community and his family. He also supported many charitable organizations. Hank was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he served as church council president, usher, and on the financial committee. He was a member of the FX Hess council #1669 Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Ave Marie Assemble #1650, forth degree where he served as Faithful Navigator. He served on the exemplification team of the 4th degree Western District for several years. Hank was also Grand Knight and District Deputy of the Waterloo Council. For over 50 years, Hank was a member of the Madison West Rotary Club, where he served as president. In addition, he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Jefferson County Sheriff Civil Service Committee for 25 years and also was secretary. He also was a volunteer with Meals on Wheel and a member of the Waterloo American legion and VFW. Hank enjoyed bowling and golf in his younger years. He was an avid Packer and Badger fan. During his retirement, Hank and Karen enjoyed traveling and took over 20 cruises together. On October 1, 2010, he proudly joined nearly 100 of his fellow veterans on the Badger Honor Flight to Washington DC and the group visited the memorial dedicated to World War II Veterans. Most recently, Hank was quoted in a book published about Edgewood High School Football titled "Unbreakable Bonds". Hank's quote talked about his involvement with the team and the programs comradery.
He is survived by his Wife Karen and Son Larry (Kathy) of Sun Prairie.
He is preceded in death by his parents and first Wife Elizabeth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Holy Family Parish - Waterloo Campus with Fr. Jorge Miramontes presiding. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the Church. Burial will be on Wednesday at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery of Madison.
