Columbus

Kenneth E. Buss, 82, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.

Ken was born on April 26, 1942, in Watertown, the son of Erwin and Hazel (Tjugum) Buss. On May 12, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Mickelson, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage.

Ken devoted much of his life to agriculture, spending many years farming before transitioning to a career as a truck driver, a profession he thoroughly enjoyed for over two decades. A longtime, active member of Waterloo United Methodist Church, Ken was known for his diverse interests, warm personality, and sense of humor. In his free time, he found joy in attending polka dances, playing cards, traveling, antiquing, painting, woodworking, and reading. Above all, he treasured moments spent with his family and friends. Ken will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; his children, Randy (Sue) Buss, Dawn Buss, and Vicki Buss; his grandson, Ryan (Sam) Buss; and his great-grandchild, Carsyn, with another expected soon. He is also survived by his siblings, Sharon (Larry) Bibow, Dennis (Jean) Buss, and Dave (Ali) Buss, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Brandon.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Waterloo United Methodist Church, with Pastor Marty Stanton officiating.
