Joyce A. Nielsen, 91, of Watertown passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Highland House Assisted Living with her loving family by her side.
Joyce was born on February 18, 1926 in Milwaukee the daughter of Edwin and Johanna (Scheid) Wandsnider. Joyce married Howard Fischer and the two were blessed with three children. After Howard’s untimely death, Joyce was united in marriage to Niels Nielsen on August 12, 1957 and the couple was blessed with two more children. First and foremost, Joyce was a woman of faith. Her faith impacted every aspect of her life. She loved her family well and loved to spend time with them. For leisure, Joyce enjoyed bowling, and was a great cook. She did everything as unto her Lord. She will be dearly missed by her loving family.
Joyce is survived by: her 5 Children - Sandra (Dick) MacWilliams, Gloria (Randy) Kuckkan, Ron (Sheree) Fischer, Terry (Brian) Stueber and Niels (Annie) Nielsen III; 9 Grandchildren - Dana, Ashley, Jason, Summer, Ben, Jessica, Niels IV, Dan, and Samantha; 7 Great-Grandchildren - Ryan, Jacob, Ben, Anna, Ethan, Carlos, and Taylor; 1 Great-Greatgrandchild - Jack; 2 Sisters - Pat (Gene) Cowen, and Helen Witte. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Howard and later her husband Niels; and a sister in infancy and great-greatgrandson, Jett.
The family would like to thank the Highland House for the wonderful care they gave “Pocket Grandma.” The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the pastoral staff of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church for their many visits and support they provided for their Mom.
Memorials in Joyce’s honor may be made to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church, the Highland House, or Rainbow Hospice Center.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dustin Yahnke presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. Burial in Glenview Memorial Gardens will follow the service.
