John E. Lord, 86 of Watertown, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Watertown Regional Medical Center with his family at his bedside.
John was born on May 10, 1930 in Beloit, WI, the son of John "Leo" and Mildred (Mickle) Lord. He is a 1949 graduate of Rufus King High School where he was a stand-out athlete. John received multiple athletic scholarship offers, but joined the Local 113 - Laborers Union, in order to contribute to his father's household and prepare for a family of his own. John was a strong, devoted and loving family man. On May 12, 1951, he married Patricia Kubicek at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church of Milwaukee. "Patsy" was the love of John's life. He was dedicated to her well-being as she was his. The couple raised 7 children and enjoyed 53 years of marriage until her death in 2004. John's love of family was multigenerational; he had 18 grand and 17 great-grandchildren and counted each one a gift. John loved to cook and took great pride in his garden. John's strength, work ethic, and love for his family was uncommon. He will be dearly missed.
John is survived by: his Children Linda (Ken) Goetsch, Norman Lord, Robert (Julie) Lord, Karl Lord, Karen (Brian) Meylor, Lori (Bill) Sorrentino, and Ann (Larry) Caya; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; Brother Eugene Lord; Sister Patty Walker and Donna (Clarence) Stellpflug; Brother-in-Law Dwain Runnells. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at St. Catherine Catholic Church of Mapleton with Fr. Mike Strachota presiding. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at the Parish Cemetery following the service.
