Jo Ellen Merkt

Jo Ellen Merkt, 69, of Watertown passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday December 15, 2018 at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek, WI.

Jo Ellen was born on August 8, 1949 in Watertown, WI the daughter of Arnold and Jeanette (Johnson) Mayer. Jo Ellen married the love of her life Greory Merkt on April 22, 1976 in West Bend, WI and the couple enjoyed 39 years of marriage before Gregory’s death in 2016. Jo Ellen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown, WI. She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels. Jo Ellen loved being outside enjoying the creation that her loving Savior had created. Above all Jo Ellen loved spending time with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate to have known her.

Jo Ellen is survived by her Sons Gregory Jr. of Gillett, WI, Joseph (Rebecca) of Watertown, Benjamin (Amy) of Watertown, Caleb of Watertown, and Step-daughter Lisa of Mountain, WI; 13 Grandchildren; 9 Great-Grandchildren; Brothers Butch (Hazel) Mayer, Jerry (Gail) Mayer, Kent (Helen) Mayer, Terry Mayer, and Steve Mayer (Larry), and her sister Barb (Wayne) Jagow.  Jo Ellen is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jo Ellen is preceded in death by: her parents, husband, son Tony Merkt, and her sister Cindy Mayer.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church of Watertown with the Rev. Dr. Robert J. Loggans presiding.  Visitation will be from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church.  Burial will take place at 12:00PM on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Mountain Cemetery of Mountain, WI.
