Jerome G. Riege

Jerome G. Riege, 94, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Prairie Ridge Health Hospital in Columbus with his family by his side.

Jerome was born on April 9, 1929, in Waterloo, the son of Herman and Marie (Hahn) Riege. Jerome married the love of his life Violet Krueger on September 28, 1957, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo and the couple enjoyed 54 years of marriage before her passing in 2012. Jerome was a lifelong member of St. John Church. He worked for over 30 years at an auto body repair shop in Waterloo; He truly loved fixing cars and other items. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Jerome is survived by his children: Shirley (Dean) Jaeger, Gary (Deb) Krueger, and Jerry (Cheri) Riege. 8 grandchildren: Tom (Theresa), Steven (Jennifer), Rachelle, Kelly (Rory), Courtney (Will), Derek (Jenelle), Josh (Jill), 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandsons, sister Jean Jordan, and sisters-in-law Lillian Riege and Barbara Steinberg. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Violet, and siblings Norman, Harold, Dorothy, Gladys, Evelyn, Eleanor, Grace, Junior, Fritz, and Myrtle.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, February 16, 2024 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. James Adomeit presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 12:00pm until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland.
