Janet Ruth Hennings, 93 of Watertown, entered eternal life on Monday, July 21, 2014 with the confidence of forgiveness of her sins through the death and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. Her body now waits for the great resurrection day when Jesus will return and unite again her soul and body to live forever in heaven where there is no more sickness or death.
Janet was born on January 3, 1921 in Pewaukee, WI the daughter of Harold and Harriet (Jones) Taylor. She is a 1942 graduate of Carroll College and was married to George Henry Hennings on June 10, 1944 in Pewaukee. She was a resident of Watertown since 1959. During the summer months of 1952-1984, George and Janet operated Taylor's Cottages of St. Germain. She was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Watertown. Her bible study group, the Sarah Circle was an important part of her spiritual life.
Janet loved music and sang for many years in her church choir and the Marquardt Village Variations. For more than 20 years she was a volunteer at the Marquardt Manor sing- a- longs and birthday parties. She played bridge, refinished and upholstered furniture, braided rugs and sewed. She enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques and bird watching. For a few years before her marriage, Janet taught high school Latin and history and then spent 50 years teaching her children and grandchildren to love music, nature, literature and history. In honor of Janet, please take an extra day to read a good book, take a walk in the woods or listen to your favorite music.
She is survived by: children Ronald (Barbara) Hennings of De Forest, Joanne (Martin Meyer) Hennings of Ashland, David Hennings of Meadow Vista, CA and Carol (John) Christian of Lebanon; grandchildren Rebecca, Thomas, Jacob, Katie, Samantha, Brian and Keith; great-grandchildren Marleigh, Kara, Elsa, Jack, Evelyn and Capri. Janet is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
She is preceded by her parents, husband George and brother Robert.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Marquardt Activity Department.
A funeral service will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Bethany Chapel of Marquardt Village - Watertown with Rev. John Kelling presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until the time of service at the chapel. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery of Watertown following the service.
