James A. Nelson 86, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday Jan. 27, 2013 at U.W. Hospital in Madison.
Jim was born on Oct. 4, 1926 in Pasadena, CA the son of Harold and Stella (Hoover) Nelson. He served his country in WWII with the US. Marine Corps. He married Clara Clark in 1947 and later married Karen Fox in 1979. He worked as an electrician at Perry Printing in Waterloo for many years. He was a Member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Waterloo. He greatly enjoyed building & repairing many things, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, wood cutting, & spending time with his family.
Survivors include: wife Karen Fox-Nelson of Waterloo; sons Clark (Sara) of Green Bay, Timothy (Mary) of Waterloo and Jeremy (Sarah) of Waterloo; daughters Colleen (Jack) Erdmann of Sun Prairie and Debra Nelson of Oxford; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Gayle Prusynski of Wisconsin Rapids and Donna (Buzz) Winch of Junction City; brothers Gary of Wisconsin Rapids, David (Flavianna) of Jacksonville, FL, Richard (Joanne) of Encinitas, CA and John of Greenwood, SC; daughter-in-law Bonnie Nelson of Appleton; also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth and brother Robert. Memorials to the Waterloo Fire and EMS Supporters, Inc. would be appreciated.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 1st at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waterloo, WI with the Rev. Rob Kosky presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31st from 5-7 PM at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home in Waterloo, WI and on Friday, February 1st; 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Waterloo with full military honors.
