James Archie

September 3, 1932 — September 22, 2015

James "Skip" J. Archie, Jr., 83 of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Heritage Homes of Watertown.
Skip was born on September 3, 1932 in Fond Du Lac, WI, the son of James J., Sr. and Margaret (Voelker) Archie. Skip served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant of the Motor Pool. On April 4, 1956, Skip married his wife of 59 years, Rachel Mosher, in Rockford, IL. Skip worked for Miller Auto Parts as a skilled salesman and developed his childhood love of cars at Gehler-Stokes Motors of Waterloo. He loved everything automotive and enjoyed searching for a "deal" at many swap meets. He had a passion and appreciation for the skill and precision need to produce fine automobiles and was always working on and restoring old vehicles. The second, some say first love of his life, was his cherished 1941 Chevrolet Sedan - which he always kept in immaculate condition. He was also a member of many vintage car clubs and associations. Above all other interests, Skip loved spending time with his beloved grandkids and family.
Skip is survived by: his wife Rachel of Waterloo; Daughters Amy (Jason) Asala of Oak Creek, and Cheryl (Craig) Oertel of Kronenwetter; Grandchildren Regan, Miranda, Grant, and Carson; Sister Maureen (Roy) Quentmeyer of Sun Prairie, and Mary Ann Archie of Watertown; Brother Joseph Archie of Waterloo; Sister-in-Law Jean Mosher of Waterloo, and Brother-in-Law Ron (Dianne) Mosher of Waterloo. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, and his Brother John.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Skip's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. John's Lutheran Church of Waterloo.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Waterloo with the Rev. Thomas Wilsmann presiding. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until the time of service at the church.
