Irlanda García Gómez, 45, México, passed away on January 11, 2024 at Watertown Regional Hospital.

Irlanda was born May 1, 1978, the daughter of Alejandro García y Salustia Gómez.

Era una persona que sin importar la situación siempre viva sin miedo. Firme como los árboles y flexible como el agua. Una persona llena de amor, valor y carisma. Una madre que no se dejaba y siempre luchaba por el bien de la gente que ella amaba más. Que encontraba felicidad en cocinar para los que amaba. Siempre fuerte y siempre pegada a dios. Por eso les pido que todos mantengan la cabeza alta. Y sus espíritus fuertes y llenos de luz como el primer rayo del sol da cada día. Sigan viviendo sus vidas como si yo estuviera ahí cada día. Porque aunque no este ahí con ustedes físicamente, siempre viviré en sus corazóns y en los buenos momentos de cada día. Háblenme, cuéntenme, y síganme amando. Porque yo los sugiere acompañando. Me hace muy feliz ver que entre tanta distancia todos los que están aqui. Y los que no pudieron pero quisieron. Cuando deveras lo cuenta están aquí hoy por mi y por mi familia. Les doy un abrazo fuerte y un beso con todo mi amor y esto no es adiós si no solamente hasta que nos veamos una vez más otro día.

She was a person who, regardless of the situation, always lived without fear. Firm like the trees and flexible like water. A person full of love, courage and charisma. A mother who did not give up and always fought for the good of the people she loved most. That found happiness in cooking for those she loved. Always brave and close to God. That's why I ask you all to keep your heads up. Your spirits high and strong. Keep living your lives as if she were there every day. Because even if she is not here physically, she will always live in our hearts. Talk to her and keep loving her. It makes me very happy to see that everyone here despite the distance. You were still able to come. That’s what really counts. Thank you and this isn’t goodbye but until next time.

Irlanda is survived by: her loving husband Cesar Peralta Adame; children Leslie Peralta Garcia and Rudy Peralta Garcia; granddaughter Amarilly Samaniego Peralta; and siblings Yuridia Garcia Gomez, Ricardo Garcia Gomez, Alejandra Garcia Gomez, and Alejandro Garcia Gomez. Irlanda is also survived by a number of neices, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Irlanda is preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church of Waterloo with Fr. Jorge Miramontes presiding. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Irlanda will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery following the mass.
