Harry Leschinger

Harry J. Leschinger, 96 of Cottage Grove, died on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Kindred Hearts of Cottage Grove.
Harry was born on May 12, 1919 in Columbus, WI son of Harry and Elsie (Bossa) Leschinger. On January 2, 1944 Harry married Marie DeQuardo in Denver, CO. At age 6 his parents moved to Watertown from Columbus and spent the next 55 years engaged in plumbing with his father and later self-employed at Leschinger Plumbing. Harry served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Corporal in the Corps of Engineer and was stationed in Pacific. After his service he returned to Watertown and served for many years on the Watertown Area Plumbing Advisory Committee, which recommends approval of trade apprentices. He was also an avid sports participant and a passionate Watertown High School sports fan for many years. He was known in the area for his jitterbug dance feats. In 1980, Harry moved to Madison and married Shirley Wisner on October 25 of that year and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Parish of Middleton. He was the last surviving member of the Leschinger family.
He is survived by: Daughter Tama (Jim) Meili of McFarland; Granddaughter Rachel Meili of Duluth, MN; and Niece JoAnn Wildes of Watertown. Harry is survived by other relatives and friends.
Harry is preceded in death by: his parents; Wife Marie; Second Wife Shirley; Son Jim; and Sister Marion Wildes.
Harry will be laid to rest following a private family service in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery of Watertown.
