Harry A. Altenburg, age 93, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday December 3, 2013 at Marquardt Health Center.
He was born November 18, 1920 in the town of Milford to the late William and Martha (Moll) Altenburg. Harry farmed his whole life on the family farm. He was a lifelong member of Mamre Moravian Church in the town of Milford and served on the board of trustees and also as an elder. Harry loved all equestrian activities. He especially enjoyed giving horse-drawn sleigh rides during the holiday season.
Survivors include: two sisters; Grace Miller and Linda Hilker, both of Watertown. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents, three brothers, George, Ben and twin brother Herbert, three sisters, Esther Bergdoll, Elsie Gronert and Meta Altenburg. Memorials may be made to Mamre Moravian Church or the charity of one's choice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday December 7, 2013 at MAMRE MORAVIAN CHURCH, with Rev. Jane Gehler presiding. Burial will be in Mamre Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the Church on Saturday 9:30AM, until the time of service.
