Gertrude M. Yelk 87, of Waterloo passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 at her home.
Gerty was born June 12, 1926 in Arlington, WI. She married Harvey Yelk on Nov. 10, 1945. She and her husband farmed in the Town of Portland and Waterloo all their lives. She was an active member of the homemakers club of Reeseville. She served as treasurer of the NFO of Dodge Co. She was a long-time Town of Portland election volunteer, avid quilter and loved her plant and rock gardens. Gerty and Harvey loved to dance to polka music.
Survivors include: 2 daughters Lavonne (Jerry) Punzel and Beverly Paulick both of Waterloo; 3 sons Richard (Penny) Yelk of Reeseville, Gordon (Debbie) Yelk and Thomas Yelk both of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; 2 brothers Hans (Bernie) Dunneisen , Robert (Mary Lou) Dunneisen both of Waterloo. Gertrude is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Proceeded in death by: her parents, husband Harvey, brother Fritz, 2 daughters; Patricia Stokes and Cynthia Punzel, Grandson Lance Eilenfeldt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday March 14, 2014 at Holy Family Parish-Waterloo Campus with the Fr. Jorge Miramontes officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday 4-7 PM at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home Waterloo and on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will be a Washington Cemetery, Town of Portland.
