Eugene F. Zimbric, 77 of Waterloo, died on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital of Madison surrounded by his family.
Gene was born on August 9, 1938, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Cripps) Zimbric. He was employed at Waterloo Malting the entirety of his working years. On August 14, 1965 he married Carol Wolfgram at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Waterloo. The couple recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Gene served his country in the U.S. Army for 2 years and later in the Army Reserves. Gene was a talented and passionate golfer. He spent many days with his wife at Lake Ripley County Club and Tyranena Country Club where he won several club championships and got 3 holes-in-one! He was loyal Wisconsin Badger Basketball fan. Gene and his family loved spending time in St. Germain, WI fishing and just being in the beautiful North Woods. Gene was an avid gardener and took pride is growing a wide variety of vegetables. Another of Gene's passions was spending time bird hunting with is treasured dog, Ginger. Above all other interests, Gene was devoted family man and he will be deeply missed.
Gene is survived by: his Wife Carol; Children Shelly (David) Krause of Madison, and Mark Zimbric of Hubbleton; Grandchildren Gaberiel, Gizelle, and Gavina; Brothers Ronald (Denise) Zimbric of St. Louis, MO, Roger (Nancy) Zimbric of Orlando, FL; Sisters Barbara (Doug) Hinkel of Hot Springs, AR, Jane (Michael) Wettstein of Wales; Sister-in-Law Kaye Zimbric of Waterloo. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his Brother Michael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Holy Family Parish - Waterloo Campus with Fr. Jorge Miramontes presiding. Visitation will be from 9:30AM until the time of service at the church.
