Eugene D. Kieck, 75, of Watertown passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Heritage Homes.
Eugene was born on April 19, 1942 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin the son of Donald and Rose (Bankert) Kieck. He married Bonnie Kloth on April 28, 1962 in Oconomowoc and the two enjoyed 46 years of marriage together until her death in 2008. Eugene farmed for all of his life and was a very hardworking man. Eugene was one of the first in the area to farm grain on a large scale. He was very handy and excellent at fixing things and even owned a body shop. He learned and honed these skills by practicing them and never received a formal mechanic's education. Eugene was also a pioneer in Wisconsin for Tractor Pulling, traveling all over America on the pulling circuit with his Ford. He was the first from Wisconsin to win a National Tractor Pull, the first to win a National Pulling Championship, and also the first person to win any of these competitions driving a Ford Tractor. Eugene's accomplishments in pulling put the little town of Ixonia on the map. Eugene was featured on the front of an article in Sports Illustrated Magazine for his achievements in Tractor Pulling. Eugene had a big heart and was always eager to help others. He was always willing to drop what he was doing to help any friend or neighbor in need. Later in life, Eugene enjoyed watching NASCAR races and playing a good game of sheepshead. He was an excellent husband, father, brother, and friend and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by: his son Dennis (Charlotte Engstrom) Kieck; sister Bonnie (Paul) Wiedenhoeft; and also many relatives and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife Bonnie, and daughter Bethany.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Heritage Homes and Rainbow Hospice for their care and compassion given to Eugene.
