Ethel L. James 90, of Johnson Creek passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Friday Feb. 14, 2014.
Ethel was born on July 23, 1923 in Newark, OH the daughter Clemence & Ethel (Morgan) Schilling. She was a 1947 graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts. Ethel married Ellsworth James on Aug. 29, 1946 in Newark, OH. Ethel taught primary grades at St. Henry's Catholic School and later managed the Istanbul Bazaar for ten years. Ethel was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. She was a talented musician and was a gifted pianist and organist. Ethel loved reading, bird watching and her wildflower garden.
Survivors include: husband Ellsworth James of Johnson Creek; daughter Grace (Russell) Feith of Jefferson; four grandchildren Chris (Sara) Matz, Adam (Becca) Feith, Ashton (Mark) Liedel and Cassie Kelly; four great grandchildren Anna, Johnathan, Avery and Mark Jameson; sister Patricia (Roger) McKenna; Brothers Frank (Joe) (Helen) Schilling, Clemence (Geraldine) Schilling, G. William Schilling and Charles (Barbara) Schilling. She will also be missed by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary Lalli & Martha Colman, daughters Ethel Matz and Cyndi Kelly, son Charles James and granddaughter Lynn Matz.
Memorials to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church or Rainbow Hospice would be appreciated.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday February 19, 2014 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Hughes presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00AM until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
