Betty (Elizabeth) J. Arians (97) passed peacefully in her sleep on December 12, 2024, at her residence at Riverwalk Senior Living in Waterloo, Wisconsin. She was able to attend the celebration of her 97th birthday in November with her family. Many friends and relatives had a chance to visit her on the days leading up to her death. Betty was born on November 14, 1927, to Walter and Mary (Walker) Doerfer of Verona, Wisconsin. She had three siblings all passing before her: Donald (Marian) Doerfer, Dorothy (Bud) Dreger, and Lorraine (Buck) Steele all of Verona, WI. She was married in Verona, WI on August 25, 1947 to Gerath “Dick” J. Arians of Waterloo. They had three children: Richard (Ruth) Arians of Madison Lake, MN, Donald “DA” (Kathy Herfel) Arians, and David “Cat” (Debbie) Arians both of Waterloo. Also passing before her was her husband of 52 years, her parents, son Donald, and special friend Bob Hein of Waterloo. She so much enjoyed her five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was a ’45 graduate of Verona High School and took up residence in Waterloo following her wedding. She was an active member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church and Waterloo community and civic organizations. In years prior to retirement, she worked at McKay Nursery Co and retired from Waterloo Water & Light. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be sent to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Rainbow Hospice Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Holy Family Parish- Waterloo Campus with Fr. Vince Brewer presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00am until the time of Mass. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
