Edward Yerges

Edward F. Yerges of Waterloo, Wisconsin, passed away at St. Mary's in Madison on May 16, 2017, at the age of 78.
Ed was born on October 29, 1938, to Milton and Beatrice (Boetcher) Yerges in Watertown, Wisconsin. He attended St. John Ev. Lutheran School, and was confirmed in 1952. He graduated from Waterloo High School in 1956.
After graduation, Ed joined the United States Army National Guard, 32nd Infantry Division ("Red Arrow"), Company C from Watertown, Wisconsin. He was called up for active duty during the Berlin Crisis.
Ed married Alice Hoeft on October 19, 1963. Ed loved living in Waterloo and did so his entire life, where he remained a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Ed was an electrician for over 40 years, and frequently helped out many with electrical questions and projects during retirement.
Ed was an avid reader, always having a couple books going at once. He was an enthusiastic Green Bay Packers and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed going "up north", spending warm-weather days at his summer cottage. Ed loved spending time with family and friends. He was always busy, with an ongoing list of things he wanted to accomplish.
Ed is survived by his wife Alice, daughter Sheri, sisters Beverly (Frank) Gehrke, Dianne (Stan) Wendorf, Carol (Phil) Barnett, brother Kenneth, and sister-in-law Ruth Yerges. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and niece Wanda.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 19 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held at the church from noon until the time of service at 2:00pm. Interment will be at the Washington Cemetery in Portland, Wisconsin.
