Dorothy Rabenhorst

Dorothy L. Rabenhorst, 83 of Watertown went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Marquardt Health Center.

Dorothy was born on November 14, 1935 in Baraboo, WI the daughter of Ernest and Elsie (Janusch) Mertzke. She married the love of her life Howard Glenn Rabenhorst on November 8, 1958 at First Baptist in Watertown and the couple enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist church in Watertown for many years; she worked as a secretary at the telephone company in Baraboo for many years before moving to Watertown and continuing her love for secretarial work at Watertown and Waterloo High School, and First Baptist Church. Dorothy was involved in many clubs and organizations throughout her life, she volunteered with the Watertown food pantry, family aid, Jaycee’s, Easter Seals, and Gifts for Kids which they did out of their home for many years. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and her favorite, gardening. Above all Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by those who were blessed to have known her.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Glenn, four children: Kathy (Mike) Smith; Cindy Smith; Mary (Rick) Warner; and Sandy (John) McLatchie. 11 Grandchildren: Carrissa; Danny; Laura; David; Matthew; Sean; Brianna; Mikayla; Mackenzie; Peter; and Ian. 3 Great-Grandchildren: Liam; Riley; and Eleanor. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother and sister in infancy.

A funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in Watertown with Pastor Shane Walker presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Glenview Memorial Gardens.
